Good Morning, Baltimore

One of the things that I really wanted to do when Dave and I moved in together was go on little weekend trips. I feel like since we are so young (and pretty broke :X) we should do our traveling in little spurts as we can. No big trips, but little weekend getaways or day trips to places close to us.

My dreams came true when we took our first day trip to Williamsburg, and then when our friends moved to Baltimore. It is only about a four hour drive from Norfolk, so it is a prime weekend desitination.

We went up there to visit them for the weekend, but we also managed to catch a Red Sox game. I may have mentioned that Dave is a die hard Sox fan, so this was a win-win.

Baltimore is a beautiful city! Our friends live in Columbia, about 20 minutes outside of downtown, but it seemed like everywhere we went was super nice. I think this is because the city is doing major overhaul to its metropolitan areas. Its always nice to see a town or city take pride in their public spaces.

We drove up Friday and then went out for drinks near Columbia with our friends. Saturday we spent most of the day at the baseball game (the Sox won! woo!) and then we went out for drinks and snacks in a little town called Ellicotville. The first bar we went to had the best orange crushes. They had lots of orange pulp in them and they were so fresh and delicious.

On Sunday we were on a mission to get some crab. We went to this little downtown area that was like a cute little village inside downtown, complete with cobblestone streets. We ate at a restaurant called Bertha's, which is famous for their mussels. Pretty much everyone had crab cakes, except for me (crab mac and cheese, what!).

After lunch, it was time to head back to Virginia. But not before we made a pit stop at the most wonderful, giant Wegmans there ever was. We don't have a Wegmans, so my love tank needs to be refilled whenever we travel north.

This was the perfect little get away trip. We got to enjoy good friends, good food and a good baseball game. I can't wait to see what kind of trips we take in the future!
