FIVE ON FRIDAY

Hello all! Happy Independence Day! I hope you all are having a wonderful day celebrating our country with friends and family. Here is my Five on Friday:

ONE

On Sunday Dave and I went with a couple of friends to the beach to see the Navy Jazz Band play a concert. The park by our house hosts a free concert series on Sunday evenings in the summer called Big Bands on the Bay, where bands play jazz and big band music. It was so nice to set up our chairs and relax for an hour or two and listen to some fun music. They played patriotic music for the holiday, which was fun and cute.

TWO

Last night we had a 90s movie marathon. We watched She's All That, Can't Hardly Wait and 10 Things I Hate About You. It was so funny seeing all the "oldie" type things, like people walking around with their pagers clipped to their pants. It was nice to have a date night in.

THREE

We saw X-Men: Days of Future Past on Wednesday. Normally I'm not a fan of superhero movies, but this was really good. This is what I had to say about it:

FOUR

My mom sent me this photo a while ago, and I just found it on my phone. I have been needing a little bit of inspiration lately (in many parts of my life) and this was the kick in the pants I needed.

FIVE

If you and your family/friends are setting off fireworks today, please be safe! On average, the Fourth of July has the highest number of fires reported than any other day of the year. Fireworks account for 2 out of 5 of those fires. Consumer fireworks also cause thousands of injuries and millions of dollars in property damage. (this information comes from the NFPA's Fireworks Report) I love fireworks and sparklers as much as the next person, but nothing is worth causing an injury or house fire over!

  1. I love that quote about doing vs. waiting. Gotta have both patience and be willing to work hard! Happy 4th of July!

    1. I know. That was the perfect thing--I have been feeling anxious about many things, work, a potential masters degree, this blog. And sometimes I just need a little reminder. Moms are the best.

I hope you have a nice celebration with your family!
