A Birthday Weekend

This weekend my sweet fiancé turned 25. That means for a short (almost) month I can say that he's older than me. I don't often do weekend recaps, because I'm boring and we don't usually do anything besides work, clean or get ready for the next week. But since this weekend was awesome and we did some fun stuff, here ya go!!

Friday started out with opening night for the second show of the season at my work. One of the traditions for opening night is for one of the departments to decorate a mini "stage," and for a pickle to be electrocuted. We do it right before curtain and everyone comes to watch. I'm not sure if this is a thing that everyone does, or if it's unique to my company, but it is super fun and there is a real sense of community when everyone comes to watch the pickle. This show costumes did the stage, and I heard a rumor that they almost forgot... it looked good though, and the pickle still glowed!!

Saturday we celebrated Dave's birthday by doing all the things. We had some friends come into town and we tailgated for a local college's homecoming (their alma mater, neither Dave nor I went there, so it was a little weird but still fun).

Then we went to one of our favorite local breweries which I've mentioned before. O'Connor's Brewing is such a fun place to hang out and grab a beer and some food. We had a few beers and shared a cheese plate. Played a few games of giant Jenga and watch more sports on giant projector TVs.

Then we went back to our friend's house where we had some delicious chili (made by Dave), and steak. We sang to the birthday boy and then chatted (and sang along to Enrique Iglesias) well into the evening.

Doesn't he look good for 52?
Sunday we both had to work again, and it was Dave's birthday. We went out to dinner to one of our favorite restaurants for neo-southern food. What that means, I'm not sure, but it was super delicious and amazing. We both fell asleep on the couch at 8pm, but that is just a sign of a good weekend in my book.

I feel like as we get older we find this balance between work and play that just fits us. You know? I mean, we both worked on Friday and Sunday, but we also played a lot and all in all had a good, fulfilling weekend. What do you think? Are you finding the balance of work and play? I know it's a struggle, but a fun one.
