My 2016 Reading Goals

Reading is seriously one of my favorite things to do. I love reading books as well as listening to audiobooks, and I just can't get enough.

In 2015 I made a goal to read 50 books. That was pretty lofty of me, and I ended up only reading 30. I'm not disappointed by this though, since I read a lot of really good books, and some pretty long ones too. For 2016, I definitely want to read some more, and have already gotten a good start.

My 2016 Reading Goals

My goals in 2015 were:
-Read 50 books in 2015.
-Participate in a book club.
-Keep better track of what I read.

I didn’t complete the first goal, but I feel good about the other ones. I’m now very diligent about logging when I have finished a book on my Goodreads account. I also took part in some of the “Between the Lines” discussions as part of a book club.

Now that I am doing well with these goals, I want to try for some new things in 2016.

My goals for 2016 are:
-Read 40 books in 2016. I already have a good start on this with 2 books!
-Expand my reading genres/subjects. I read so much historical fiction. I would like to add some non-fiction books in there as well.
-Publish more posts about books. I have enjoyed keeping track of what I’ve read on this blog, and would like to try to write some more reviews.
-If I don’t like a book, put it down. This kind of sounds like an anti-goal, but this is important as a reader. I often find myself in the middle of reading something, and it just feels like a chore. If I am not enjoying a book by the halfway point, this year I want to make sure to put it down. If not, it’s just wasting time.

Are you a book lover like me?
Did you make any reading goals for 2016?
