What I've Been Reading...February, 2016

Happy Friday Friends! I’m excited to join in with Blogs Like a Girl and Puppies and Pretties for their Reading Lately link up. I felt like I was reading non-stop this month… and I loved it.

Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica ★★★★
This book was pretty good. I liked the story and the characters, especially Willow. I thought that this wasn’t as good as Kubica’s other book, The Good Girl. This definitely has some suspenseful parts!

Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling ★★★★
I had heard a TON about this book before I received it. I am a huge Mindy Kaling fan, and I loved her last book. It was interesting how in this one, she talks more about her role as a producer of The Mindy Project. I listened to Kaling’s first book as an audiobook, and read this one as a paper copy. I would definitely recommend the audiobooks for things like this, because you get the right inflection when she jokes around.
**This book was sent to me for review by Blogging for Books.

Sherlock Holmes: The First Great Detective by The Great Courses ★★
To be honest, I picked this because it was free on Audible. It was so dry, and the narrator had a heavy British accent. It is also clear that this is a part of a larger course, which may explore more into the character of Sherlock Holmes.

Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier ★★★★
Cold Mountain is one of my favorite movies, so I knew I really had to read the book at some point. I listened to this on Audible, but that might have been a mistake. The narrator (who I think is the author), was so monotone. I love this story though, which is why I rated it as 4 stars.

In March I am definitely going to be reading these two. I just started Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, and am waiting until I get my next Audible credit (March 4) to start Room by Emma Donoghue. These are both books that come highly recommended, so I’m very excited to read them. What have you been reading lately? Any good recommendations?
