February 3, 2017

This month has been so weird. It has been busy, and exhausting, and full of so many emotions. I was sick over the weekend of New Years, and I feel like my body has just been fighting it this whole month.

I wrote on Monday about how I've been reading a little bit to escape reality. I'm just so appalled with the climate of our country that I can't even handle it.

Part of me feels really bad that I'm not doing more to help, but y'all I've just been so tired. I work full-time, go to school part-time and take care of our duties at home, while my husband goes to school full -time and works part-time. Every second we have free I just want to snuggle on the couch.

I'll let you know when I find the balance I talked about earlier this month, cause it certainly is a work in progress.

Currently, I'm...
Reading: Like... seven different books. I am continuing on with the Gender Game series, finishing up The Woman on the Orient Express, and working on 1984 because #alternativefacts. I am starting to read Big Little Lies for a new blogger book club that I'm a part of, and I can't wait to watch the HBO series that goes with it.

Pinning: Lots of healthy recipes. I have been seriously thinking about doing a round of Whole 30, because 1. You don't have to pay for the program. 2. It kind of fits into the way we already eat. 3. I've heard amazing things about it.

Munching On: Salads. My favorite lunch place near work is called Hello Bistro, and they basically make huge chopped salads. Well (my wallet and) I got sick of shelling out $8 per salad, and I decided to start making them at home. I've been prepping them on Sunday nights, as well as making my own ranch dressing. This is perfect for the week, and I feel like it is much healthier. Ranch recipe coming soon!

Sipping On: Boiled water. Why you ask? Because Pittsburgh had a water boil advisory this week. Apparently, there wasn't enough chlorine in the water system so we were under a precautionary "flush and boil order." I boiled a ton of water and put it in our fridge, and then yesterday the advisory was lifted. As is life. At least now we have a couple gallons of beautiful clean water in the fridge!

Trying Out: I guess I'm not really "trying it out," but I started classes for my MBA this semester! I'm taking Accounting for Managers right now, and I LOVE IT. Even though it is a 3 hour class on Tuesday nights, I look forward to class every week. My professor is the cutest old man, and I am understanding the content! I am so glad I decided to take classes again!

Craving: A vacation. This month has been such a whirlwind, and I just need about a month all by myself (maybe with Dave and Ruby), to just relax and decompress. I would love to go on a weekend trip or two this summer, but it doesn't look like we will be making any big trips until Dave graduates in May 2018.

Excited For: Valentine's Day. I got Dave the freaking funniest present ever, and I can't wait to give it to him. He's been pretty stressed with school lately, so I thought that a funny gag-type gift would make him laugh. Look out for a nice photo on my Instagram right around that time. Here's a hint:  #Iamanassholewife

Wearing: Layers upon layers, especially tights, leggings, and scarves. I forgot how COLD freezing actually is. I like to layer because sometimes (aka basically all the time), buildings, cars, buses, etc have the heat absolutely blasting. So you go in wearing your coat but are sweating in two seconds since it is like 80 degrees in the building. Wearing layers makes it so easy to add/delete as necessary.

Buying: Basically everything on Amazon Prime. If I can order something and have it shipped for free to my door two days later, WHY in the world would I go to the store to get it. Last week alone I bought cat food, winter gloves, and a Z Palette. I also love the chrome extension Honey, because it tells you what the best deal is and if there is a coupon for that item.
